Corporate Events: An Overview

What is a Corporate Event?

A form of event or a social activity organized by a corporate/business singleton. Employees, board members, stakeholders, customers, potential clients are not only circumscribed under the audience of a corporate event. There are many!

Depending upon the reason (for the event), the audience is differentiated. To name to(reasons) for the events(organized) are motivation, award-distribution, milestones(marking) etc.

We just discussed a form of events(corporate), now let’s know its types:

  1. Conferences -

Often conducted to convey the information to a specific audience. Businesses use it as a tool to educate and motivate attendees and to increase their collaboration and engagement.

  1. Trade Shows/Exhibitions -

Larger than conferences, where corporates rent a space to promote their products/services to their potential clients. Within a business, an organizing committee is made which takes care of all the planned instances which are listed in an itinerary. Either the businesses are the host or attend as exhibitors.

  1. Awards/Gala Dinners -

Within a business, award functions and gala dinners are organized to felicitate employees for their contribution to the entity. This type of event has a purpose behind rewarding and motivating the employees and encourage them to perform better.

4.     Incentive Programs -

Usually targets employees and resellers. These programs help employees to learn more about the business and its products/services. An outstation trip(sponsored by the company) is organized annually and the moments created are cherished for a lifetime, the togetherness also helps in better understanding within the organization.

5.     Launch Events -

Businesses use this as a PR technique to create the hype for their new services, products, etc. Product launch, office inauguration, etc. are the most common types. Potential clients, the target audience is primarily the attendees of the event, and most importantly, media plays a significant role in promoting these launch events.

6.     Company Meetings -

They are mostly formal events where the company’s board members, stakeholders, shareholders are gathered together to confer business. This type of event can be used as a key to show off their business success in front of their competitors.

7.     Experiential -

With technological advancements, customers are provided with brands’ products/services experience. A bond is created with the brand and its customers as aligned emotions are attached with the customers.

8.     Virtual Events -

An the online event, organized by a business when the physical meeting is not possible for (any) reason. They may include virtual tradeshows, virtual conferences, virtual sales meetings, virtual interviews, etc. They become more popular during the pandemic and many virtual engaging applications(apps) saw a boom in their sales and downloads. 

How you do Corporate Event Planning?

Here are 10 key points which will help in planning a corporate event:

       Evaluate the purpose of the event.

       Figure a budget out.

       Make a timeline (of the event happenings)

       Decide on your audience

       Choose a theme/format.

       Select a location.

       Plan the logistics.

       Event promotion.

       Include technology.

       Evaluate event success.

Different ideas to make the event memorable:

An event should be memorable enough to cherish the memories spent together, and activities are the catalyst that influences remembrance.

The organizing committee of the event should list these points as ‘to-do’ to plan and execute the event efficiently.
